Fort Lauderdale, FL– Interior Designer Perla Lichi, ASID, has been commissioned by Helen and Jacob Shaham, founders, owners and operators of The Palace Group of Miami, to design interiors for The Palace at Weston Senior Living. Lichi joins the build/design team of Architect Gabriel Salazar of SAGGroup Inc., at 4970 SW 72 Ave Miami, Florida. At the time of this writing a builder had not yet been selected.

The Palace Group is a leading & award-winning provider of senior living communities in South Florida. In 2014 they won the most prestigious award from the National Association of Home Builders as the Best Senior Living in the USA for Their Palace in Coral Gables.

Perla Lichi has received more than 800 national & international awards for residential & commercial interior design projects, including 37 design awards in the 2015 Prism Best Awards from the Gold Coast Builders Association (GCBA); and 30 design awards.

“Interior design is an integral part of creating the right ambiance for any Palace community,” says Helen.  “For the new Palace at Weston Senior Living I wanted a fresh new look. I met Perla Lichi in her office/showroom in Coral Springs and she showed me around. I knew immediately that I came to the right place. I fell in love with Perla, her creative personality, her easy going manners and the flair of her designs.”

The Palace at Weston Senior Living is scheduled to break ground in January 2018, and to be ready for occupancy around the spring/summer of 2019. Located on an 8.5-acre site near the corner of Griffin Road and Weston Road, the new community will have about 330 units.  Explains Helen: “Looking from the outside, The Palace at Weston Senior Living will look like a large building. However, it is actually the intimate home for three small separate communities, all under one roof.

It will house a separate and unique living area for 130 units for independent living; 140 units for assisted living; and 60 units for residents needing memory care. Each of these areas will have its own porte-cochère entrance, reception lobby, concierge, plaza, dining room, theater, library, cards and game rooms, public areas and amenities, and gardens. This special design gives complete separation among the buildings so nobody will feel that they are living in a large building. Parking is plentiful, both above ground and below ground in a parking garage under the entire building.

“The Palace at Weston Senior Living is our second project in Weston, says Jacob Shaham. “Between 2004 and 2009, we developed, built and operated The Palace at Weston for those 55 and over, a condo community, of 382 units and villas around a lake. Today you might know it as The Palms at Weston.

“Knowing the discriminating Weston clientele, we decided that Perla Lichi and her team would create the “WOW” factor for The NEW Palace at Weston Senior Living.”

“When I found out that Helen’s company name was The Palace, I had a feeling this was going to work out. Palace is my middle name,” says designer Perla Lichi, referring to the many palatial estates she has designed.

“During our meetings with Helen, we are always impressed by her passion for what she does, her deep knowledge and understanding of the wants and needs of her residents,” says Perla. “Working with Helen and her team, I am certain we will create a landmark high-end community that will be the talk of town in Weston and the talk of the industry!”

The Palace Group is a private, family-owned “labor of love,” says Helen. Together with her husband, Jacob, and their sons, Zack and Haim, they have been developing, building and operating senior living communities since 1980.  With our hands-on, very personal approach, we bring something completely different to each new market.”

“This is our ninth community. With each new community, we take everything that we have learned from our existing communities and apply it to the new one. Plus, we are always looking for the best senior living practices being done throughout the country. We conduct focus groups and have traveled nationwide to visit the newest and most successful communities so that we can evaluate what’s working and what isn’t.”

Convenient innovative elements and improvements in the residences of The Palace at Weston Senior Living include: Very large apartments with a room for a Private Aide (if necessary) which are designed so that when its doors are open you get an even larger living room; A dedicated storage space near the entry door which can be used to put out of sight a walker and/or wheelchair; “California-style” closets; Wall size medicine cabinets; 3-sided mirrors in every bathroom; Zero-entry to the showers; Ceiling chandelier in every room; A terrace in every apartment;  All doors and windows installed with impact glass, and more.

The public area of the Independent Living area has a central glass elevator adding to the “wow factor.” But practically, this elevator will “save steps,” making it very easy for residents to access the beautiful public areas such as the Plaza, Dining room, Theater, Library, Card rooms, Beauty salon, Gym, Exercise room, Billiard room, and a zero entry pool which are situated on two levels.

The Palace communities have received many industry accolades including six “Gold” Awards for The Palace at Coral Gables in the 2014 Best of 50+ Housing Awards from the National Association of Home Builders. The Palace Coral Gables was also selected as the “Best 50+ Independent Community” in the country by BALA.  Additionally, The Palace Group has been awarded prestigious accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for The Palace Renaissance and Royale in Kendall and The Palace Gardens in Homestead. The accreditation is similar to a five-star rating in the hospitality industry. Only two other rental Assisted Living Communities in Florida have received CARF accreditation.
