Luxury Interior Designer Perla Lichi’s segment on South Africa Broadcasting Company’s (SABC) “Top Billing” show during Prime Time on Thursday July 21 was the number one trending topic. Ms. Lichi’s segment started trending within five minutes of the start of the broadcast. “Feedback when the show was re-aired Sunday July 24th was also incredible,” per Simone Gray, Post Production Manager at Tswelopee Productions for SABC’s Top Billing.

The show takes viewers on a tour inside a magnificent Johannesburg family home, designed by the award-wining Florida and Dubai-based luxury interior designer Perla Lichi.
This magnificent house caters to everyone in the family, from an in-house spa for mom, an exotic car garage for dad, something unique to each of their five sons, and a kitchen that’s out of this world.
This grand Joburg, South Africa residence was the vision of its IT executive and his wife; one which called for the skills of Perla Lichi, an American master interior designer and just the woman to bring this opera of a home to reality. Perla has published five books on her work with a sixth coming out later this year. Her instinct for how space, design and material come together is well illustrated in the house.
There are many hallways in the home, which posed a design problem that Perla solved by converting each of them into a unique “art gallery.” The warm, inviting living room features a custom rug that holds the rest of the varied elements together. A built-in gas fireplace with marble finishing all around fits smoothly into the ornate décor.
The beautiful gourmet kitchen continues the feel of the home through rich, hand-carved mahogany woodwork. A wood beam soffit over the island is a chef’s dream. Griller, steamer, cappuccino maker – everything is built into the cabinetry. Eighteen people can eat breakfast at once in the kitchen!
The luxurious main bedroom achieves a soft, warm, comforting glow. His-and-her vanities feature custom-made wood cabinetry with decorative embellishments. A ceiling soffit with custom lighting and a central chandelier was created to repeat the shape of the Jacuzzi tub area. In the wardrobe, handbags each have a color-coded home. The simple act of putting an outfit together in here has the thrill similar to a shopping spree down New York’s 5th Avenue.
Summer or winter, if you feel the need for a splash, then the oasis of the indoor pool is always at just the right temperature for a dip. This is truly a home where everyone can be in their own world!
